From White Center Now: Arcade opening (updated!); restaurant closed

Two business notes from our partner site White Center Now – we’re linking them here in case you haven’t seen them there:

ARCADE OPENING: We first reported on WCN four years ago that Southgate Roller Rink, on 17th SW just south of Roxbury, was taking over the former Bank of America next door. Now it’s announced a plan to open as an arcade. (1:44 PM UPDATE: We’ve talked to the owner since publishing this and added more info to our WCN item, including the plan to open July !!.)

RESTAURANT CLOSED: Less than two years after opening in the former Zippy’s Giant Burgers space on 14th SW just south of Roxbury, Burger Planet confirms it’s permanently closed.

Not exactly sure how a restaurant, hamburger place can exactly expect to have enough business if they are only open from Wednesday- Friday from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from noon -6:30 pm .  I’m am sorry that they have decided to close their business and I do express tons of gratitude that they supported local artists while they were opened and had various events supporting local artists and had other events in their establishment. I wish them well.

Wishful thinking or inside info? Wendy’s had a WC location once upon a time, and is still in Burien …

It is the future site of white centers newest fast food outlte. Wendy’s.   Yes corporate America still trying to shove more burgers fries and softdrinks down our allready bloated and swollen feed bag in their everlasting quest for capitol gains and a sedentary easily controlled populous.   Sorry.  Yeah it will be a Wendy’s

Google searches tell me that Bonjour Vietnam is permanently closed. Did I miss a post about that?

That’s weird. I didn’t realize Burger Planet ever opened. It always looked closed every time I looked that direction. I guess that explains the closure.

Just saying, I never understood a no name burger place (apparently, w limited hours and no ads/social media that reached me) opening in a space previously occupied by a popular burger place with ample social reach….which closed due to, I assume, poor revenue.I envy all the people with enough money that they can afford to make poor decisions in the restaurant game. Seriously, if you don’t have 1000 loyal followers before opening a brick/mortar burger joint next to 5 other burger spots (including chains), what are you thinking?

Sorry, comment time is over.
