BIZNOTE FOLLOWUP: Signage finally up for Westwood Village’s Total Wine & More store

Thanks to Brian for the photo! Almost exactly one year after we first told you Total Wine & More was on the way to Westwood Village, signage finally went up today at the ex-Staples spot in the shopping center’s northeast corner at 25th/Trenton. They have yet to answer our inquiries about their timeline for opening but we’re renewing those inquiries.

As a 40 something DINK who enjoys wine and cocktails, I’m very happy to see this addition to our area.

As a 40 something DINK that don’t drink, I don’t feel excited about this at all.Should have been something everyone can partake in. Like a massive food hall/court packed with all kinds of foods, to represent the demographics of the area.

      • RCS April 6, 2025 (5:46 pm)

Listen up, everyone! The gatekeeper on “what everyone would enjoy” has spoken. 🙄

        • Scott April 8, 2025 (6:31 am)

We all have different ideas, but that being said, a food hall/court would be really cool idea. Plenty of parking to be had and more food is always good.

So open one up, no one’s stopping you…

      • EJ April 19, 2025 (3:35 pm)

Uh oh everyone. The fun police has arrived!

  • David April 4, 2025 (6:55 pm)

They sure are taking their sweet time opening this store!!🤷‍♂️

    • Doug April 7, 2025 (7:11 am)

That’s an indication, sorry, and not a good one — they’re a chain operation that can afford to pay rent on a major mall location for a year without revenue. A bigger red flag is that they don’t respond to WSB’s inquiries.

      I’m expecting the world’s blandest wine-related experience.

I’m so excited..It’s taking longer than I expected.

  • Oerthehillz April 4, 2025 (8:26 pm)

So excited to not have to head to Tukwila for my booze run.

  • 1994 April 4, 2025 (9:26 pm)

keep an eye on the prices for the imported stuff……could be an eye popper!

    • JP April 5, 2025 (8:44 am)

Are they not “eye popping” already? You realize the state you live in levies the highest alcohol tax in the country, right?

  • Ckraken April 4, 2025 (9:41 pm)

That’s all Westwood Village needs is another place to purchase alcohol

    • Lisab April 5, 2025 (2:27 pm)

      Right?

  • Resident April 4, 2025 (10:15 pm)

Not sure if this, within walking distance to a high school is a good idea – but okay.  Maybe then QFC will be coming shoppable again when all the riff-raff movest to Total Wine.

    • Anne April 4, 2025 (11:00 pm)

What’s the difference?  You can already get alcoholic beverages at Rite Aid, Target, Qfc- all the same distance away from the High School.

    • J April 5, 2025 (3:19 am)

Cause proximity is the only way kids get booze.  According to this states where liquor is banned should show lower numbers,  it doesn’t.  Instead of insulation and blaming a corporation,  perhaps some accountability on your end

    • Grant April 5, 2025 (7:06 am)

Well you need to be 21 to purchase alcohol, so I don’t see why it being near a high school is an issue. West Seattle High School is immediately adjacent to two grocery stores and a brewery, and I’ve never seen students putting a few back during lunch. This is pearl clutching nonsense.

    • Colby April 5, 2025 (8:34 am)

There was a liquor store in Westwood up until the pandemic. Most recently just a few doors down from where Total Wine is going in. This is nothing new.

    • mem April 5, 2025 (11:43 am)

Think the THREE tent encampment near the walking path is much more of an issue for the high school students. Been sounding the alarm  for weeks to get that property cleared. The owner should be cited and fined for his continuous neglect of his property.

      • Amy April 7, 2025 (10:55 am)

You know that you can look up the property owner’s address on the county assessor’s website and write them a letter about the encampment.  And CC the relevant city departments while you’re at it!

    • Dan WestSide April 7, 2025 (7:19 am)

The new clientele for this location has already begun parking their RVs near the closed DMV. I doubt this business can withstand the amount of retail theft that is coming. Unless their security is off-duty SPD, they will close in 3 years tops.

  • DRW April 5, 2025 (10:27 am)

Anything opening in Westwood is good news!

  • Olivia April 5, 2025 (11:19 am)

I’m so excited for this addition to Westwood Village! It is welcome. Cheers!

  • Tom McBride April 5, 2025 (7:37 pm)

The clerk at the Interbay store said they are planning to open in June.

  • RCS April 6, 2025 (5:49 pm)

Super excited to see this space put to use in Westwood Village!

  • CJ April 6, 2025 (7:09 pm)

Mid-40’s SIK, previous CSIHS parent/WS-resident (near WWV) imbiber here. I understand we, as law abiding/tax-paying adults, can and should be be excited about something like this opening locally. Unfortunately, the world (i.e., the city) we live in and the current state/condition of WWV (and the surrounding area) as a whole will mean yet another build-up of un-housed encampments literally right outside the walls of this building. Which will inevitably then lead to an uptick in crime in the area – in particular @ TW. It’s not a question of if, but when.

Bring back Barnes and Noble please

  • Mike April 18, 2025 (2:43 pm)

While I love the idea of having a Total Wine so close, there is really no point in buying liquor in WA state, where we have the highest liquor tax in the country on top of already high liquor prices.   It is so easy to buy online from reputable stores in other states and have it shipped for much less $ than I would pay here…

Sorry, comment time is over.
