ORCAS: In Elliott Bay as sunset nears

6:19 PM: Up for sunset whale-watching? Kersti Muul reports that transient orcas are in Elliott Bay, headed southbound toward Alki. Let us know if you see them!

6:29 PM: Update from Kersti – now in the ferry lanes, heading toward the point.

Do orcas or other whales show up at any time of day, or are there certain times that are better to try and see them?

They show up when I’m busy 😆Predicting by time of day can really only be done when they come in at night/evening and we can make good guesses about where they will be in the morning; depending on matriline or pod.Otherwise, no. Some is tidal dependent…

Is there somewhere to sign up for whale sighting alerts?

Sorry, comment time is over.
