READER REPORT: Harbor Avenue condo garage flooding

Thanks to the texter who sent that photo from the garage at the condo building Point Nautica. The texter says the flooding is due to a water break. Seattle Fire has been there (1005 Harbor SW) on a call categorized as a “major water job” for more than an hour.

If the break happened on Condo property it will reflect in next month’s water bill, the meter doesn’t care what happens to what it measures.  If it was off-site then it’s just considered loss of revenue.

Fortunately, if everything is photo documented, you can provide this to SPU and they will assist with the bill.

That is one heck of a lot of water.  Huge main or did no one notice the flooding?

Huge main – a 4” line feeding the fire sprinkler system.

It was fire suppression supply line going into the lower garage. By the time they did notice, which was fairly early on, it had already covered the floor. In the short amount of time it took for the SFD to show up, it had got up about 3ft or so.

They may assist with the bill but it could take up to one year after submitting documentation before you see the credit.

For those that live in that condo building – make sure that work is done to dry out the structure properly and prevent mold growth. Or you could get very sick.

Sorry, comment time is over.
