Why? We don’t even have snow on the ground The forecast is 50% for the next 2 hours. Only place in the work I know do who cancels school before it snows. 🤣🤣🤣 the roads are fine.

They may have been prescient, as conditions are changing. Up here for example, the snow is now coating the sidewalk, the (side) street, and the cars – colder than yesterday so it’s sticking this time.

When I was growing up in upstate NY, where snow days were common, my school district once announced a closure for the following day based on a forecast for heavy snow.  It never snowed a single flake.

I live in West Seattle, but teach in Bellevue and I’m really glad that I am enjoying watching the snowfall from the comfort of my home and not sliding around on the roads! When I left school yesterday, Bellevue was a winter wonderland, although by the time I got to Mercer Island the roads were dry and not a flake to be seen. I plan to enjoy this bonus day that I did not ask for as soon as it’s light I’m going for a walk!

Seattle shuts down before even the first sight of a flake. The roads were clear and not icy at all.

Just so no one is confused .. SEATTLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS do NOT have any changes this morning, aside from one North Seattle school that had to close because it’s out of power.

Seattle Public Schools have done this since an incident in the mid 80’s – major snowfall – didn’t dismiss early – kids lost on stuck buses – some kids didn’t get home until 1am – parents to say the least were livid

Some of the hills are icy and slippery. Arterials look pretty good.

Actually Seattle school district didn’t close or have school one or two hours late and people sent kids to school on buses in late 80s or very early 90s and I remember walking up the hill with a friend who taught at a local school and when we arrived at school we saw the administrator outside telling people that school is now closed and we saw  school buses turning around with students in the bus and drive away  ( this was during when children were bused across the city to school not in their neighborhood) and the administration was telling people in cars that school is closed. What a mess it was and we also saw metro bus stuck sideways on the hill trying to drive up it.
