WHALES: Transient orcas visible from West Seattle

Thanks to Kersti Muul for the report – transient orcas are in the area, headed southbound, just south of Discovery Point on the north edge of Elliott Bay, which means they should be visible from Alki with binoculars. Let us know if you see them!

Yes, off Eagle Harbor southbound, mid channel.  3 or 4 it seems, one large bull.

We could see them from Admiralty Heights. Last seen ~10 minutes ago it looked like they were heading toward Manchester, but hard to track with binos.

Leaving southworth by ferry at 3:08pm today and they were right off the bow.  So still in area.  Rather large fin but also a smaller one, perhaps a baby? Either way, pretty cool so keep your eyes peeled neighbors.
