Police were dispatched to North Delridge after multiple reports of gunfire a short time ago. No victims have turned up, and no damage has been reported so far, but officers just told dispatch that they have found “multiple shell casings” near 26th and Brandon.
I guess this is what comes with an ever growing homeless encampment right near that intersection. It started with one small vehicle and has grown to several RV’s and some tents popping up along the Longfellow creek trails which are clearly no longer safe to be walking in.
Don’t like homelessness? Work with the city council to tax our biggest businesses so the unhoused can have residences and services.
Any information to back that up? It wasn’t up by the RVs, it was around the corner on 26th at a house.
If you witnessed this, you should call the police. If you didn’t, then why are you making accusations? More crimes are committed by people living at fixed addresses. Should we condemn all the homed as being criminals?
I live nearby this intersection. Given the cost of ammo these days and how hard it is to find, I am hesitant to pin this on the those who live in tents and rv’s, though times are rough for them in February. I’d guess this incident is a result of poor judgement from a young man ranging 21-26 years of age with a chip in his shoulder and a lack of self-control and, importantly, a quick means of getting away. I just hope nobody got hurt and will continue to stay on alert and hope my neighbors stay safe. I appreciate knowing there was a police response! Better days ahead.
Don’t blame the homeless. That area has had these same problems for as long as I can remember (40+ years).
I live a block away and heard the rapid fire pop pop pop from this but wasn’t sure. Sigh. Also, I don’t blame the homeless folks there. Usually it is someone passing through the neighborhood. Not a resident. And the unhoused are residents of our neighborhood. And yes, it is a mess at the moment right there by the creek and I don’t have a good solution for homelessness. But I doubt they are the source of this particular gun violence incident.
According to SPD Twitter there was another drive-by shooting a block away at 1am, any connection…?
No, that’s the same one. Tweets by Beat are time-lagged by when the report gets into the system.
They’re different locations- the first on 26th and Brandon, other one was around the corner a block away at 52XX 25th ave sw at 1:18pm.
This was originally called in as the location noted in the tweet. (I wrote it on my notepad – the first calls came from 5200 to 5400 25th SW.) I follow these things day in, day out. The time stamp is always lagged and the location (same thing happens on the SFD log) can vary.

I have called JennyDurkins office about the camps and garbage. I expect a return call in a day or two per a resolution.
