10:49 PM: Chris sent that security video clip on which you can hear what was called in as suspected gunfire in the 16th/Holden area around 9:30 pm. No word if police found any evidence of gunfire; no shooting victims reported, so far.
TUESDAY UPDATE: Police officially classified the call as “drive-by shooting, no injuries.”
I was listening to the police scanner and it came in as gunshots on 18th AVE SW at 9:15pm. They barely mentioned anything else though and I didn’t see any police activity
I live on 18th and the gun shots were super loud for me. The police were out in front of my house looking for stuff last night around 10pm. A few weeks ago a car drove by shooting into the air, I have that on my security camera. This is the second time someone has been shooting on this street. This sucks.
I hear them east of us here in Arbor Heights late at night all the time and never see anything on SPD or KCSO reports. My guess is it’s careless vandals shooting into the air on a dare.
If they don’t find casings or property damage (or of course a victim), it can’t be classified as confirmed gunfire. The call WILL appear under a designation such as “noise disturbance,” In this case, looks like they DID find something as the call was eventually classified (the time stamp is usually a few hours lagged, dependent on when the report was filed) “drive-by shooting, no injuries.” – TR
It wasn’t totally a drive by shooting, but close enough. A shooter got out of his car and used a rifle from about 1/2 a block away (likely to avoid cameras) and shot at a house/truck. They found 10 rifle shell casings and 5 unused. Whatever is going on appears to be drug/gang related and I suspect it will continue. The targeted house was/is a known drug house that was cleared by the police I think about 18 months to two years ago. Someone was just released from prison and is apparently back in that house. This is the second time for a shooting in December. The first was on the 4th and was a true drive by of 3 shots fired straight into the air starting from the same shooting location (1/2 a block away from the house).
Wow- sketch. I was in my backyard months ago and saw someone driving southbound on 16th shooting out of their car. We saw the muzzle flash and was super loud. So upsetting how this just sets the mood for being unsafe
Wow- terrifying. Are you referring to 18th tucked behind Dumar where the community food library stand is or the 18th off Holden closer to the 7-11? Be safe!
Can’t the police contact this persons parole officer ? Seems like something they’d be interested to know…. and if neighbors or cops don’t know who has moved back in…the parole officer does…..
Thank god for the whole “defund the police” thing, it’s not like we needed cops for anything anyways
