UPDATE: Tree down on West Marginal Way SW

11:03 AM: Multiple reports of a big backup as crews work to remove a downed tree/limb across West Marginal Way SW north of Highland Park Way. Avoid the area for a while.

3:19 PM: Finally got a chance to go through the area. All clear.

With the bridge down, the city should address the dangerous trees that regularly fall on West Marginal Way and Highland Park Drive.  Seattle has a multi-million dollar backlog of tree maintenance, but these two critical routes out of West Seattle should be prioritized before another rainy storm season.

I was the unfortunate recipient of that tree that fell last week. Stopped at a line of cars waiting to turn left onto Highland Park. The tree branches crashed onto my car, ultimately totaling my car. Luckily the trunk was hung up on the power lines.

Unfortunately we don’t know – SDOT never plugged into this one and we baven’t been able to go look.

Sorry, comment time is over.
