TRAFFIC, TRANSIT, WEATHER TODAY: Friday watch

(SDOT MAP with travel times/video links; is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE)

(Click any view for a close-up; more cameras on the WSB Traffic page)

7:02 AM: Good morning! Winter break starts this afternoon for local students; it’s one-hour-early dismissal for Seattle Public Schools. No incidents in or from this area so far this morning.

7:32 AM: It’s below freezing but no snow concerns – the newest “forecast discussion” says there’s a possibilities of flurries or “light snow showers” tomorrow but otherwise precipitation and low temps aren’t expected to collide.

Is there anyone home at SDOT? Nearly all the WS traffic cams are dead now, some have been out for weeks.

Sorry, I didn’t catch the top camera but have just replaced with the bridge camera that’s working. They’ve been having more trouble than usual but it’s not quite that dire. In some cases they have changed the URLs and there’s no notice. The “travelers’ information map” is the only place they seem to update the URLs so I am just going to have to check it every morning. – TR

(Edited to add: Just spun through the 10 video cameras on the West Seattle list on the travelers-info map. Seven are working. Of the three that aren’t, one of them – near Walking on Logs – has been broken for months but the other two are relatively recent breaks.)

Sorry, comment time is over.
