West Seattle egg hunts, report #2: Thriftway goes big

Our photographer says today’s West Seattle Thriftway (WSB sponsor) egg hunt brought the biggest turnout he’d seen in going on a decade of covering the annual event. The Easter Bunny, of course, made an appearance:

This time, the store promised 30,000 surprise-filled eggs for the taking:

Even the littlest participants gave it their all:

This year, the store’s celebrating its 28th anniversary.

Awesome of Thriftway to do that for the kids!

Walking to the caucus yesterday I was happy to see so many people out – only to find they were instead coming from the easter event instead.

It is sad to see adults teaching their children that Easter is about egg hunts and rabbits. It is a fallacy. If you do not believe in Jesus do not celebrate Easter by participating in corporate america invented games. It is sad that an adult who is informed can still do this without conscious. Especially on a very important day for our nation and the FUTURE of your children. You should be at the Caucus not disrespecting the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Oh relax Chris. It’s fun for the kids. My daughter had lots of fun and my wife is Japanese Buddhist. I’m agnostic myself, but appreciate Buddhist and Taoist philosophy.

If I had a criticism of yesterday’s events as far as parents teaching their children, it was the gross display of watching a parent begin to take one egg, then two, then three, and finally just grabbed all of them and walked off. I hope they are not teaching their children these values, or lack there of

And PS Chris. This isn’t an important day for this nation. It’s an important day for you and others who share your religious beliefs.

Getting together as a community- whether for an egg hunt or caucusing, is a worthy event!
