TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Thursday updates, with Admiral Way crash aftermath, late morning NB 99 crash

(Click any view for a close-up; more cameras on the WSB Traffic page)

6:07 AM: As we get going for Thursday, the aftermath of last night’s one-car crash on Admiral Way between 49th and Garlough [map] is still having some effect on traffic, according to SDOT. Metro says buses are back to normal but SDOT mentions a lane closure. We covered the 10:50 pm crash here, including the power outage that affected more than 4,000 homes/businesses at its peak (over now). If you find Admiral fully open before we report it, please let us know, when you can do so safely (from a bus, a passenger seat, after you get where you’re going, etc.) – 206-293-6302 text or voice – thank you.

8 AM: We just went through and confirmed Admiral is fully open, no leftover crews, etc.

9:50 AM: Crash on northbound 99 near the stadiums:

The 6:36 56 was a no show. Of course, no text alert, they’ve stopped that.

Are you talking about the 6:37am #56 at California and Admiral?  It might have been early and you missed it?  There was no one at the stop when I got there for the 6:55 #57, I was quite early (before 6:50) and the bus wasn’t especially full-as would be the case if there were a missing bus.

Avoid the Viaduct/99 Northbound.  accident and big back ups!

99 is at a standstill. Do not get on 99. We’re basically trapped between the WS on-ramp and the Seneca off-campus and we are not moving at all.

Just got that via WSDOT. Thanks. P.S. They’re reopened a lane so it’s NOT fully blocked/closed.

Is 99 open yet, or is it still just one lane?

it’s been reopened for about an hour now.  no more backups, according to the above webcams.

    @ Naomi, @newnative:

The 6:36 56 was a no-show, or it took the re-route AFTER Metro had said Admiral was open at 5:58. A group of normal 56 riders walked up to 49th and Admiral to catch the 6:50-ish 57.  I am a little mystified as to what the re-route would have been.

  • Naomi Hyland March 26, 2016 (4:36 am)

@newnative, there was a group of us waiting. One bus away said it came and went while we were standing there… it did not. It would have had to be exceedingly early, others had been waiting already when I got to the stop.

Sorry, comment time is over.
