West Seattle Crime Watch: Police investigating gunfire

No word of any injuries, but it appears that police have confirmed that was gunfire heard by many near the Delridge Library (5400 block of Delridge) a little while ago. Officers are still in the area investigating and one reported (via radio) finding shell casings. One nearby resident who called 911 tells WSB that dispatchers told her others had called too.

Breaking glass and one shot fired near the alley behind the Shell station then at least one man running through backyards and a second running down the sidewalk. Four more shots in or near the library parking lot. Saw it all from my window.

I heard it…sounded like around 5 shots. I’m on the corner of 25th and Brandon by the library.

    B. Billy, thank you for sharing. If you haven’t already, please contact police to tell them what you saw. If you’re uncomfortable calling 911, you could use the non-emergency line (206) 625-5011.

You should always use 9-1-1, not the non emergency number. 9-1-1 calls take priority over all other incoming calls. Something critical such as this definitely should be called in on 9-1-1.

Yes, PLEASE call 911 – At the last NDNC meeting our CPT officer was answering our questions and explained how crucial it is to receive calls.

For example, if they get one call it doesn’t seem as urgent as if they get 5 or more calls.

Sorry, the concept of calling 9-1-1 was so obvious to me, I neglected to mention that I’d done it. Also, spoke to officers in the field.

Sorry, comment time is over.
