Huge win for the West Seattle High School Wildcats varsity football team Friday night at Southwest Athletic Complex – 46-0 over the visiting Franklin Quakers – and a big night for #12, Joe Ylagan:
… though Franklin tried to stop him:
Eight more photos, with game notes, ahead:
From the game stats published by our partners at The Seattle Times, and notes from photojournalist Nick Adams:
Ylagan scored four touchdowns – here, working his way around Franklin’s James Flowers:
One was after intercepting a pass meant for Franklin’s Marcel Boatwright:
Daniel Sullivan (#14) hoisted Ylagan after one TD:
Sullivan also ran in a Wildcat TD. Two more were by #5, Diandre Jackson:
And Jamie Maples, #10, threw two of the TD passes. Meantime – you don’t get a crushing victory like this without tough defense. Next, West Seattle’s Jalen Riley, #57, reaches up to block a pass by Franklin QB Montique Jenkins:
Here’s West Seattle’s Eric West, #55, and Dustin McLean, #60, putting pressure on Jenkins:
Reaching for every extra yard mattered too – like WSHS’s Siddique Newkirk, #2, while being tackled:
WSHS hosts Cleveland next Friday, 7 pm at SWAC.
