High-school football: Chief Sealth wins big over Franklin

Seahawk Spirit triumphed not only in the stands but also on the field Friday night at Memorial Stadium downtown, where Chief Sealth International High School trounced Franklin HS in varsity football, 60-26.

More notes and photos ahead:

WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand reports that Sealth’s path to the win included wading through a series of penalties that saw both teams backing up for a fair portion of the night.

Despite the rough going, Sealth’s short passing game came alive in the second quarter and was their most effective way of moving the ball down the field. Frankln made a game of it in the first half, scoring on long plays, but just before halftime, a blocked Franklin punt set up a quick score by the Seahawks. Sealth then went on to dominate the second half.

Find more game details in the @SealthAthletics Twitter feed. Next Friday, it’s the Sealth homecoming game, with Nathan Hale visiting SW Athletic Complex, 7 pm.
