Checking: Helicopter(s) over West Seattle

10:30 PM: Getting various reports of one or possibly two helicopters over north West Seattle – Alki, Admiral – and hearing some closer to us, too. Don’t know yet what they’re doing – there is no obviously correlatory traffic on the scanner.

10:36 PM NOTE: We should note that we did hear a loud sound pre-chopper(s) here above Lincoln Park – and we now have a note from someone who says they called police about what they believed to be gunfire a short time ago on the north end of Lincoln Park. No reports of anyone having been shot anywhere, however.

Helicopters perhaps filming? I could see one hovering a way back and three in a sort of procession. Roughly following the shoreline.

Gina – we were just discussing that, since we had that movie shoot at Jack Block earlier – and now we are also speculating wildly that it might have been related to a story we are just back from, a federal search of some kind in High Point this morning that sounds like it is part of something bigger. But my first call during biz hours will be to KCSO to see if Guardian One was up at all (usually it’s on the SPD radio frequencies if it’s out here, and I heard nothing, so I don’t THINK that was it) …

They looked like the two black OH-58 “Kiowa” obsevational helicopters that KCSO opperates.

Interesting. I heard an explosion around 9 and thought it was the usual random firework that goes off on Alki several times a week. But it did sound a little different than usual.

I didn’t look at the choppers but they sounded the way they do when they’re hovering over a specific block.
