West Seattle businesses: Menchie’s, Umpqua opening soon

After a few WSB’er inquiries, we’ve checked in with the companies opening Umpqua Bank (which just joined the WSB sponsor team) and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt (here’s our July story) in the new commercial building on the northwest side of the Admiral Safeway site. Umpqua tells us they’re tentatively planning on November 2nd, while a Menchie’s spokesperson says, “Unfortunately we do not have a confirmed date, but we expect that it will open in early November.”

Thanks for the update. Even though Chase Bank is too big to care, I look forward to closing my account with them and opening a new one with the Umpqua Bank branch next door. Umpqua checking is free with either paperless statements or average monthly balance of $500 (vs. Chase’s minimum DAILY balance of $1500!).

I closed all 3 of my accounts with Chase after they refused to remove a late payment fee for an ontime payment I made because it showed as an hour late in NYC where they are based. I opened the account with WaMu so I still used those banking hours.

They didn’t care at all that I closed my accounts. I haven’t missed them.

visited the one on Queen Anne couple weeks ago with 5 yr old; they have little paper tasting cups so you can try any/all flavors before choosing and love the self serve; yes, I suspect this will become extremely addictive

Sorry, comment time is over.
