Trouble at KeyBank in The Junction again – but NOT a robbery

(Photo added 2:50 pm)
Thanks to Katie for the Twitter tip on this – she heard about trouble at the KeyBank in The Junction; we called SPD’s media unit and here’s what Det. Mark Jamieson says happened: A man broke a window at the bank (update: north side, as shown above), then walked inside and apparently told the staff he wanted to pay for it, even offered his ID. Then he left (Det. Jamieson isn’t sure if payment was taken before this) and caught a bus, hand bleeding from the broken glass. Metro and SPD were notified, and they stopped the bus at 35th/Avalon to take the man in custody – they also called the Fire Department to check out his injury. From there, he was to be taken to the Southwest Precinct for questioning.

I’m glad he was on a bus, he sounds too stupid to drive!

Speaking of too stupid,Id like to thank the man, driving this morning up the ramp eastbound from Avalon to the West Seattle freeway in the bus only lane at a high rate of speed, while all of us patient people waited in a stand still roving single lane.Once you got to the top of the ramp,Mr.Police motorcycle officer was waiting for you and pulled you over.I had a good laugh as well as some others who saw this all take place. What made you think your destination was any more important than everyone elses?

@alki resident, was that car the black sedan that was pulled over this morning?

  • MargL April 22, 2010 (5:36 pm)

Ah – so that’s what that was about. Was going up 35th and had to pull over as a police car zoomed north with sirens and lights. Turned on Alaska but could see 3 SPD surrounding the bus stop down the hill.

Unwarranted anger, negligent destruction of property, total lack of concern about other people, then a sudden act of remorse followed by flight. Too stupid to drive? Sounds like he’d fit right in with most of the rest of drivers on the road.

Yes ERIN it was.The cop was sitting and waiting for someone to do just that. wasnt related to the bus stop incident MARGL.

We ain’t seen nothing yet, folks, just wait for the “medical marihuana” law to pass…

So, he broke a window and offered to pay for the damage (and maybe even DID pay)…yet then he’s taken into custody and commenters start calling him stupid? Nice…NOT!

Alki 2008 – I haven’t seen the full report; since this caused a scene with police both in the Junction and Triangle, we published what we knew shortly after it happened. What we won’t know until there’s a readable report is whether the breaking was an accident or deliberate. If the latter, I don’t think that offering to pay would absolve someone of it being vandalism – TR

Baba, I have to ask… what does medical marijuana have to do with this story?

  • T_Bickle April 23, 2010 (4:18 pm)

    Put the bong DOWN Baba…

Let me get it straight: – A man broke a window at the bank…then walked inside and apparently told the staff he wanted to pay for it, even offered his ID. Then he left and caught a bus, hand bleeding from the broken glass… –

Oh, my friends! I was young once too! The stories I can tell…Ah, Sorry, wrong blog though :-)

PS: I love all you guys, too!!!

  • Baba April 23, 2010 (8:33 pm)

And @ Baba Hater, I have to agree with your expertise here, some “heavier” drugs must’ve been involved in this story…

ps: It feels good to have a fan club.

Baba is on some serious drugs.

Sorry, comment time is over.
