West Seattle Weather Watch: Wind “trims” Alki tree; missing kite

Thanks to Gary J and Desiree, who both sent news/photos of that big tree limb down at Alki, on this windy afternoon (that’s Gary’s pic, above). Forecast says we could see wind up to 25 mph at times tonight. ADDED 5:58 PM: One other weather note – Jenny says her family lost a kite, and her 7-year-old thought WSB’ers might be able to help find it:

What a great day to fly a kite, and lose one! My husband and sons were flying kites up on Genesee Hill near 55th and Bradford, and one got loose. It’s rainbow with a fluorescent orange tail. It was last seen headed south around Dakota and 55th. [map] … If they find it, please ask them to call Jenny at 935-7389.

    Dear Editor,
the West Seattle Blog is the most boing thing i have ever read. ever. all of it. from the wind trimming the tress, to the blessing of the pets, to Blayne leaving the Hotwire. what a complete waste of time. so white. so west seattle, so non-news worthy. i will do my part to tell only white, god fearing christian.s of your works. as i see no other audience or use for this blog. i assume that my comment will be censored soon as i have heard of this happening before.
    Yours in Christ.

Hi! To each his/her own. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We publish about 12 stories a day and realize they’re not all of interest to everyone, but if none were of interest to anyone, we’d be out of business pretty quick – TR

I LOVE WS Blog; check it a couple of times a day to find out what’s going on in our neighborhood. It’s a great service to all WS residents. I guess that freaky complainer would like it better if you could report on nuclear accidents, massacres, rebellions and insurrections. Perhaps you should make up the news rather than just report on it; that would make for much more exciting reading (fiction?). Or better yet, the complainer might move to a community where more spectacular things happen and there’s a blog to report on them. By the way, what does religion or race have to do with the WS Blog anyway? Finally, is it the writer’s spelling or typing that is so bad?

Hey T: Not every story is of interest to me either, so I read the title and decide if I want to read it or move on to the next. Try it, it works!

p.s. Are you having a bad day??

  • JanS October 4, 2009 (6:53 pm)

Dear T…it is what it is. It’s a community news source. It is about the community, it serves the community. Perhaps as Barbara stated, you should find a more “dangerous” “edgy” community to move to. It’s like the TeeVee…don’t like the channel? Change it, or turn it off!

    and get a grip…geez.

35this35mph has it right – don’t feed em. So what is a Troll? Here you go: An “Internet troll” or “Forum Troll” or “Message Board Troll” is a person who posts outrageous message to bait people to answer. Forum Troll delights in sowing discord on the forums. A troll is someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is purposely provoking and pulling people into flaming discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling and a flame war.

I would add that a troll is somebody who has waaaaaay too much time on his/her hands.

That’s a long way for a kite to travel – the link to google map of Dakota and 55th took me to southern kansas!?

  • WSB October 5, 2009 (10:49 am)

    OK, try it now …

  • Gina October 5, 2009 (10:59 am)

For a moment I thought it was a picture of a kite eating tree.

    Too many Peanuts comics.

  • Leroniusmonkfish October 5, 2009 (11:15 am)

A kite in the jetsream could probably travel as far as Kansas if not further.

  • mtp October 5, 2009 (12:54 pm)

    I thought Jenny’s number was 867-5309!! LOL!

We moved to Seattle from Portland 20 months ago, and have thoroughly enjoyed the WSB. As stated, if it is not for you, so be it. It is for many so my advice T would be to simply to lessen your angst and just not worry about the content on the WSB.

Sorry, comment time is over.
