West Seattle (and beyond) scenes: From the bird to the bridge

Spotted pecking and scratching in the shrubbery outside High Point Library right after mayoral candidate Mike McGinn‘s town hall (covered here) – that chicken.

Spotted by Walking On Logs at the Fauntleroy end of The Bridge – decorations we assume have to do with the last two nights’ big concerts:

And thanks to Jackie (plus an unidentified cell-phone-photo sender) for noting the Ivar’s “undersea billboard” pulled from the water off Alki last month is now ashore and above lower Spokane Street just west of 4th:

Ivar’s has added more videos to its ongoing saga of the purported billboard discovery.

This same billboard can be see in Factoria on the Eastside. It is just some sort of viral marketing campaign.

Really? First I’d heard they had put up more than one. More people had concluded faux than had concluded real, but still.

According to Ivar’s site, there are three that have been found and they have put up three renditions.

I hope the chicken finds a home. We had a rooster living under the west seattle bridge for at least 3 years. He’d be out every morning getting food from the bikers. I’d sometimes pull up and another biker would be feeding him. The rooster didn’t make it through the cold winter we just had. One day he was gone.

In a way I hope the Ivar’s campaign is a gag, for it’d be the most clever bit of fast food marketing I’ve seen. So kudos to Ivar’s in any event; they help keep Seattle interesting.

Are brown pigeons rare or not? I saw one the other morning and took a pic of it in front of the 7-11 with the other gray colored ones.

Has anyone touched and smelled the “original documents” displayed on the Ivar’s site as proof? Visually it would be quite easy to photoshop old paper and duplicate the the type.

Saw the billboard last night. Good reproduction of old style Ivar’s.

On the website they said they’d be “honoring the specials (from the billboard allegedly fished from the deep).” But go fish around at http://ivars.net to doublecheck … TR

Sorry, comment time is over.
