Miss the library? Advocacy group is taking a survey

We mentioned that Friends of Seattle Public Library will have a rep at tonight’s Southwest District Council meeting. One other FSPL note: Group rep Sarel e-mailed overnight asking that we share a link to their website – which has been chronicling the weeklong closure – and a request for you to take a survey about the shutdown. You’ll find the link here.

The city had to close down the librarie’s to make up for a $43 million dollar gap in its budget claiming it’s an economical decision. Library workers also had to forego one weeks pay because of the closures. The article says here that 26 branches to close will save up to $655,000. Wow.. that is a tiny drop to make up for that deficit.

unfortunate that the closure is occurring the week before school starts when most day camps have finished for the summer, this in between week seems to be when most parents need resources/books activities to do with their kids.
