Update: Crash at Delridge/Andover, no serious injuries

Even if you’re not in the area, you may have heard a lot of sirens within the past hour – here’s what it was about: A crash at Andover/Delridge (map) originally went out as a “heavy rescue” call – it closed before too long, but North Delridge’s Nancy Folsom (who provided the photo) says the crash involved a car and a truck from nearby Nucor, and blocked the intersection for a while. We’ll be checking to see if anyone was seriously hurt. 1:40 PM UPDATE: No serious injuries, according to fire department spokesperson Dana Vander Houwen.

Waaay too many people try to run the lights and block the box at this intersction when the bridge is backed up … and those trucks are often the worst offenders.

I have noticed alot of care taking it straight up the hill from the middle lane – it is a turn only land, but not marked very well. Also alot of bike riders cause hazards at that light.

Speaking of this general area. I’d like to see the section of Delridge Way north of the Andover/Delridge intersection modified to provide a transition from WS Bridge traffic speeds and corresponding behavior into speeds and behavior more in keeping with the entrance into a business district and residential neighborhood.

Vehicles come flying off of the WS Bridge off-ramp and then continue at high rates of speed southbound on Delridge Way. It gets especially dicey as drivers try and beat each other to the 2-to-1 lane merge just south of Andover. Numerous times either the bus stop or the utility pole at this spot has been wiped out by some clown playing their own real life version of Pole Position.

Sorry, comment time is over.
