Two meeting reminders circulating today: Water Taxi, skatepark

We’ve told you about both of these before, but reminders are circulating today in non-Web ways, so we thought we’d point you to the basics again: First, our postal mail brought a reminder about the Delridge Skatepark public meeting January 14th (first mentioned here), 6 pm at Youngstown Arts Center – the city is proceeding with design though it doesn’t have construction money right now. Second, e-mail from the city just brought a reminder about the Elliott Bay Water Taxi/Seacrest dock improvements meeting January 15th (first mentioned here), 7 pm (with 7:30 pm presentation) at Alki Community Center.

I plan to go to this and hope others do too. The water taxi may end up being our saving grace during viaduct construction!

I hear no mention of how the Seacrest FISHING Pier will be impacted by these changes. The Pier was originally built for fishing and has always served as a means for fisherman without a boat to catch fish. As it stands, there are indeed two structures. Fishing and Ferry. I HOPE the future plan is NOT to ask for this pier and corresponding area to be designated a WA Ferry site, eventually incorporated into the WA ferry system. This would mean fishing eliminated as no fishing is allowed near WA ferry terminals due to liability concerns. Parking is major issue, especially during Summer.

Sorry, comment time is over.
