Preview of new design proposals for 35th/Graham project

This Thursday night, the High Point mixed-use proposal at 35th/Graham — officially, 3420 SW Graham (map) — comes back before the Southwest Design Review Board, which voiced major concerns in August about the first design proposal and asked for a second round of “early design guidance.” Tonight, you can preview the presentation that will be given to the board on Thursday, because the city has posted it on the Design Review website (download the 43-page PDF here). Thursday’s meeting is at 6:30 pm at Hiawatha Community Center.

Why is the meeting being held at the Hiawatha center instead of the Highpoint center?

Can we get any assurance from Mithune that they will not contract out landscape design to Peg Staly who thought drought resistant plants would not grow into a jungle that had to be cut back several times since we only have a 3 week “dry” season? (which still managed to kill several of the street trees)

Perhaps we can also find out what fire-sale price the developer was given for some of the most valuable public land in Seattle?

Also note. The 44 ft height added to whatever the final grade is will assuredly remove any publicly (or private) accessible views from the neighbors to the south, of Mt Rainier.
(Mine is already long gone as well as the view of the city and the cascades)

This will negate any added home value but will not stop the King County assessor from piling on a steep rise in taxable value in hopes of changing the existing working class neighborhood into Mayor Nickles urban density dream as the retired are squeezed out and backyard condos are added.

Also. If this is not a simple developer give away, perhaps some one can explain how luxury condos fit in with the SHA mandate? Plant trees on it if you want to leave something for the future other than pavement and parking garages.

It is Deja Moo. Same bs, different day.

Only one point I can sort of answer – the land is still listed in King County records as owned by SHA.

Sorry, comment time is over.
