How’d he do in a crazy fashion challenge about car parts? Read on:
Another close call for Hotwire Coffee (WSB sponsor) barista turned “Project Runway” contestant Blayne: This time, he was in the “bottom three,” after an episode in which the contestants were given a few minutes to strip car parts (new career if fashion doesn’t work out?) and then the usual allotment of hours to transform them into “garments.”
He used broken mirror pieces (drawing a quip from host Heidi Klum, “You know broken glass means 7 years of no sex, don’t you?”) atop a dress that ended with fringe made from seat belts. (See Blayne’s creation here.) The judges said the top didn’t fit well and the bottom was too long. Nonetheless, he and biker babe Stella survived their trip to the depths; sensitive Keith went home.
As always, WSB joined the viewing party at Ginomai, around the corner from Hotwire, and grabbed a quick video postmortem from Blayne’s boss Lora Lewis after the show:
Since Blayne’s still in the running, that means another viewing party next Wednesday night — doors open 8 pm, show on the big screen at 9 pm, Ginomai’s on the SW corner of 42nd/Genesee (map), enter the parking lot from 42nd.
