West Seattle food: Farmers’ Market fresh sheet; ice cream/gelato

Two food items to mention first thing this morning: First, if you’re going to the West Seattle Farmers’ Market (10 am-2 pm, southeast corner of 44th/Alaska), here’s the latest fresh sheet — standard disclaimer, it’s the citywide list, so some items are marked as only available at other markets. Second, since we’re looking at another 90-ish day, we made an ice cream/gelato map for West Seattle and slightly beyond (click the snowflakes for name/address, and click-grab the map to pan around to make it easier to read if needed; note the 4 Alki locations are so close to each other, the snowflakes overlap till you zoom in):

Wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve missed somebody, though, so if we did, please leave a comment or e-mail us.

Great to point out where folks can get something ‘cool’ on a hot day here in West Seattle. Don’t forget Bubbles across from the water taxi though. The best bubble tea/smoothies anywhere in Seattle.

Don’t forget that Luna Park Cafe has kick ass sundaes, floats, and malts!

i have to give another plug for full tilt in white center on 16th. i went there yesturday for the first time and had the most amazing vegan ice cream (mocha flavor!) which i had sworn off in the past (because i think soy ice cream tastes gross) they use a coconut milk base and it is soooo good! my husband had the mexican chocolate ice cream and it too was amazing and the quality of the ice cream was really evident.

I took my two-year-old to Full Tilt and it was incredible. He had the chocolate scoop and I had the vegan mocha. It was delicious and exactly what I needed to survive a hot day. I’ll definitely be going there again.

Thanks for the notes – this is just “grab ice cream/gelato cone” type places – lots more places to sit down and have ice cream, that would cover almost every restaurant! (And supermarket ice-cream selection has sure come a long way, too.) Re: bubble tea and smoothies, that’s a whole ‘nother map :) maybe for tomorrow if it doesn’t cool down! When looking for bubble tea, we are Bubbles fans too. The original location is cute and cozy but if you’re looking for a place to sit down, the Delridge 2nd location has comfy tables and a big plush couch.

Freezer isle at Met Market. The whole place has great air conditioning, but the freezer isle is best!

props to the gelato at Alki Urban Market. It’s the best. I didn’t even know how good gelato can be! And I have NO connection to them. I can’t see what the other two gelato flakes are behind Tully’s. Any way to enlarge the map?

    n/m figured it out…

“Gelato flakes” … good phrase. I had to pick snowflakes because I couldn’t find an ice-cream cone icon anywhere and am not graphically savvy enough to make one myself. For anybody else who wonders about using G-Maps, the plus sign zooms in – but you may also have to use your mouse to click on the map and drag it if it zooms into a spot away from the one you wanted to look at. You have to click the plus sign a couple times to get close enough to the Alki flakes for them to separate. (Also, clicking the “view larger map” beneath the map will take you to the full page on Google.)

Another is Pepperdock on Alki. Half the ice cream you see moving down Alki is their famous blue bubblegum. A far cry from gelato, but tasty in it’s own special way.

The strawberries I purchased at the Farmers Market today are sooo sweet, so perfect. DELICIOUS!!!! They were my treat after dinner. :)

Pepperdock is on the map. The four on Alki are Alki Urban Market, Tully’s, Homefront, and Pepperdock.

I can’t find Full Tilt! I’ve driven by 16th and didn’t see it. Can it be seen from 16th? Or is it just a doorway?

Look for Revolucion nightclub – it’s next door, to the south, on the west side of 16th, in the block south of Roxbury.

Sorry, comment time is over.
