Suspected arson north of Morgan Junction

Police are reported to be looking for suspects in an overnight fire set at Puget Sound Key and Lock at 6014 California (map). Here’s tv news coverage for starters (also here). One report says “… Witnesses reported seeing two young men leaving the scene … two white males wearing red shirts and blue jeans,” who might also have been burned, so officers are checking with hospitals and clinics. Call 911 if you have any idea who’s involved; we’ll have daylight pix here shortly. 7:55 AM ADDITION: According to an update from the Fire Department, the people in the apartment above the businesses got out OK. This is right next to the relatively new West Seattle Digital store that we reported on three months ago (you can even see part of the pre-fire locksmith store in the photo); we’re checking on nearby business effects. The major fire and police units are long gone – no traffic impediments at the scene – just a clot of tv trucks.

When I walked by around 7:30, they were sweeping up the scene. Two cats stood perched in the upstairs apartment window, just watching all of the events. I am glad no one was hurt.

I hope they catch the people that did it. We live close by so it’s a little scary that someone would just set a building on fire like that.

Too close to home. I didn’t need another reason for insomnia.

That is awful. It was a such a great business. Last year we called them up – friends had accidentally locked the dead bolt (which was broken). The owner came out the same night – let us buy the knob and lock ourselves at Home Depot to save some money – and installed it personally. I hope they rebound!

What the f&%k!!!! I am getting so sick of this s*#t. What is wrong with people? What could those a-holes possibly have gained from destroying this man’s business? I saw him on the news and he seemed like a genuinely nice person just trying to get by in the world.
It’s at the point now where I’m half afraid to go on a vacation we have planned and leave my house unattended.
