Christopher Boffoli tells WSB that the first meeting of the new Junction Neighborhood Organization, JuNO, had a great turnout last night (especially considering the temptations of a warm summer night). He also passes on some updates about area crime, procured from a Seattle Police rep in attendance — click to read what Christopher reports about that:
I asked SPD Officer Brian Ballew tonight about the reports of a recent arrest of a burglar in connection with local robberies (WSB post July 24th). He confirmed the arrest and said they actually have two people in custody. He could not comment on the current status only because he said he doesn’t know what’s happening. As soon as it is in the hands of the DA the police tend to not be kept in the loop. He expects more information to be forthcoming.
As a follow-up to the burglary and car theft (reported on WSB June 28th) … the police apprehended these burglars as well. In fact, the thieves led the State Patrol on a wild, 130 MPH car chase down the interstate before totaling the (victims’) 2007 Honda CRV. Their laptops and other personal items were recovered. Apparently the suspects are juveniles. …
There have been multiple reports of peeping toms in my neighborhood, and the neighborhood to our north (between the Junction and Admiral) recently. This is the first I’ve heard about it but it has some people on edge.
If you want to contact JuNO organizers, their e-mail address is on this flyer prepared before last night’s meeting.
