(Melody the cat has returned home safely; info removed)
Thank you so much for your kind offer. Melody has returned home safe.
That’s awful; having your cat bolt on you is a scary experience. I hope the cat is chipped so that if it’s caught, someone will call.
You should try the trap, as suggested (with your cat’s favorite food or treat); just be aware of racoons and their love for cat food, especially. Oh, and always check a trap every 1-3 hours while it’s armed. Keep it out of direct sunlight exposure (if we get any) and the elements. Some animals prefer it if the trap is covered; you’ll have to experiment.
Good luck in getting your cat back. You should let everybody know if it’s advisable to try and approach / pick up your cat if spotted or if they’re more the type to run and hide.
Thanks for your kind thoughts and suggestions. Melody is a sweetheart who loves people, she is as approachable as any cat ever was. She found her way home and is safe now.
Hooray! I’m so glad to hear she’s home – I’ve had a cat get tangled up (& freak out) in the handles of a bag before myself, so her story stuck with me. You might want to collect your signs off of the telephone poles, as I was just looking at one today and keeping an eye out on our walk. Again, happy to hear the outcome!
