Harrison Hot Springs, BC. Just over 2 hour drive. Family friendly. Not inexpensive, but often has deals this time of year.

Just driving down to Portland then hanging a right to head out to the 101. Nothing like getting some fresh cheese from Tillamook! :D

All these recommendations are terrific, except I strongly dislike Ocean Shores. They allow cars on the beach, which is really obnoxious and frightens wildlife. Plus noise and pollution.
