PDG Beverley Stephenson past away Feb. 9, 2016 of cancer.  Sorry to say I read about Beverley’s passing on her sister Eliza’s Facebook page.  I believe Beverley was a member of your club.

Same here, I don’t know if my email went through, here it is:  brieanne98042@aol.com.  My name is Past President Brieanne Berg.  I was Beverley’s long time friend and fellow Lion.  We met in the Bellevue Lions club and she became my Sponsor when I was out of Lions for a while.

    Hi,

    My name
is Madelyn Mancini and I work for Educatius International which is a company
that brings high school students from around the world to study in the US. We
are looking for loving families to host our sensational students coming to West
Seattle high school in January 2017.  I
was hoping that you would allow me to attend your meeting in January to share my information?

By inviting an international teen into your
home and family you are giving that child the chance to see the heart of this
country up close and personal.  This will give them a very different
impression of the US than they have gathered from the news, movies, or music
videos.  Many students go home with a much more positive view of America
than they came with, and they will share that view with their friends and
    family from their home country.

    At the
same time, as a host parent, you are providing a child away from home with a
safe and nurturing environment in which to learn about this great country in
    which we live.

    Hosting
also has the potential to give your family some wonderful gifts. The experience
can open up family members’ eyes to the fact that the US is a part of a much
larger global community.  Country names become more than spots on a map.
They become faces and names of people we know that are from those places.
We learn about new foods, new customs, new languages, and we hopefully become
    more understanding and better communicators.

    When we
host we are adding international branches to our family tree.  We have a
good reason to take an international vacation to visit our new family
members.  Host brothers and sisters could end up participating in each
other’s’ weddings, and, who knows, one day you may be sending baby gifts to an
    international ‘grandchild’.

    All in
all, hosting is about building relationships that have the capacity to reach
around the world and into the future.  I hope you will consider this
    enriching opportunity.

    We are
able to offer a monthly stipend to help offset the costs of having another
    person in the home.

    I look
forward to hearing from you soon. I would appreciate you allowing me to share information
about this wonderful opportunity with members of your organization.

    Warm Regards,

    Madelyn Mancini
