West Seattle Crime Watch: Stolen-car search; door-kick break-in

Three notes in West Seattle Crime Watch tonight. First, if you’re seeing police activity in Arbor Heights around 32nd and 106th, officers are searching right now for suspects who apparently fled a car that turned out to be stolen. Second, we’re still trying to track down information on an incident earlier tonight in the Admiral District that led to a brief, albeit reportedly sizable, response (will add whatever we find out). Third – two people e-mailed on behalf of neighbors who sadly can’t do it themselves because burglars stole their computer equipment. The break-in happened today near 44th/Cambridge, and one of the neighbors reports:

Burglars hit during the day, broke down the front door, stole computers, including a brand new Apple desktop computer just out of the box, and a Rolex. Left everything else. A burgundy car was seen yesterday, parked just down the hill, with a man inside it watching the neighborhood for quite awhile.

Next time someone notices a suspicious car, photo the license plate. I always do. That way if there is a crime in the area – you can provide a possible lead.

Just curious. Was the Apple bought recently from Best Buy?
Another WSB reader had one stolen about a week after purchase.
Notify SPD detectives if it was.

I am in AH and I think someone stole my mail overnight. I neglected to check my mail last night when I got home, and when I left for work this morning my mailbox was wide open and empty. :(

Second taking the pictures! earlier this year I took a couple of two men wandering through my neighborhood taking photos of homes and looking like they were casing things. I gave the pics of the men and the cars to the police and big suprise…the plates on the cars didn’t match the registration on either! They were very aware they were being photographed themselves and I can’t say I’ve seen either one of them since.

Oh no!! that sucks to lose Apple equipment just out of the box!!! argh!!!

what kind of vehicle is that because I have seen couple times when I walk into our AH hood…

I always bring my phone with me while I walk with my dog on street and being alert and watch out for “OUR” neighborhood even though if a person sitting in the car is watching the hood. God forbid and I would come up and stare at that person to get lost… No matter what!!! My phone is right there if I have to take picture before I confront!

One problem how can the license plate being stolen and not matched the vehicle? and the result is police says “its stolen” argh!

Any word on what was going on with the police response on Admiral last evening? A bit after 7:00 pm, I was waiting to turn onto Olga at the top of the hill when five cop cars, lights and sirens blaring, sped by, swerving into oncoming traffic and going through lights and crosswalks they were in such a hurry. Made quite an impression!

AMB, I have that inquiry out to police in two ways and will publish a separate Crime Watch update as soon as I get a response from one or both … TR

Dang it…totally forgot to send a note to WSB! Im in Highland Park, just around the corner from the school. I came home about 5ish last Thursday to an opened package on my porch and a note from a Seattle police officer that they had found a big pile of stoeln mail in South Park and our package had been in it. He told us that they returned as much as they could. It was interesting timing because the hubby and I had JUST been talking about the fact that we hadnt had mail for a few days. Just an FYI…sorry it took me so long to post!

We were robbed on July 29th – one of the items was a brand new 27″ iMac had only had in house 3 days! Also took 2 apple laptops an Air and a MacBook. Rolex and Panerai Luminor….. Lots of other stuff as well but strangely similar.

Sorry, comment time is over.
