Just went through this stretch of Delridge. As we were passing by, a man in a house across the street from the construction was hanging a banner that says “F**K YOU METRO.”
I’m just wondering, does anyone have an idea why he is upset? Is it just the general disruption caused by construction or another issue that I am missing?
Thanks.

He is likely upset about the bus lane only soon to be arriving outside his doorstep in what used to be an area he would have parked his car, or cars.

I just drove through that section, myself. I noticed some preliminary road markings indicating bus only lanes NB on Delridge. I think the WSB reported some time ago about changes to the lane configuration on this section of Delridge. I’m guessing that the bus only lanes may take away street parking.

We saw the road markings while there photographing the Bartell Drugs sign on the Corporate Center building earlier this week – hadn’t gotten around to that followup yet, trying to find out how soon the striping crews are being deployed. And yes, removal of street parking is part of the plan. Here’s Metro’s info page (click the individual lines to open up the info-boxes) http://metro.kingcounty.gov/have-a-say/projects/route120/ – Here’s the PDF with overlay of the new configurations:

P.S. For anyone just tuning in, comments were taken last spring:
.
http://westseattleblog.com/2012/04/comment-deadline-friday-for-metro-route-120-changes-including-delridge-rechannelization
.
This rechannelization has been wrapped up all along as part of “improvements to Route 120″ – the same way the rechannelization of SW Alaska in The Junction was wrapped up as part of “RapidRide-related improvements.” Confusing to many because suddenly the communication comes mostly from the county even though the roads belong to the city. And then suddenly the south-end Delridge rechannelization emerged … unrelated. Apparently.

I think the house with the provocative banner is the same one who hung an infamous sign about heliports not making good neighbors. This happened in the early 90′s, or was it late 80′s….? Anyway, Services Group America owner Tom Stewart wanted to build a landing pad on the top of his office building at Andover and Delridge. Needless to say, the idea wasn’t popular, and obviously didn’t
happen. Neighbors rallied and the City Council stopped it. Ironically, or not, Stewart died not to many years ago. In a helicopter crash.

The parking will be restricted from 6-9 AM Mon-Fri for the northboud lane. The folks that park and ride will have to find another area.
