Reader Recommendation Request: Brake pads

From Kate:

I have an Audi that needs new brake pads and I would like to take it to a reputable shop but I haven’t done this in West Seattle. Can you recommend a good local place for brake repair?

Westside Imports on Alaska between 35th and Fauntleroy. I’ve been taking my Hondas there for over a decade and my mum has always taken her Subaru there. They’re the kind of folks who, after the dealer tells you to get something done to your car for about a zillion dollars, they’ll look at it and say, “you don’t need that, you need this instead and it’s gonna cost about a hundred bucks.” I love those guys. Complete Auto Care on 35th & Holden. They do good, quick work and are reasonably priced.

Try Firestone on California and Edmonds. They are professional and my sense they charge reasonable prices. They are customer friendly.

Doyle’s Automotive. They’re good honest people who do great work.

I second Firestone, for what it’s worth.

My Dad went to Doyle’s for 40 year’s, and swore by them!

    Tom’s automotive

Tom’s Automotive. I’ve been going there for years (as have my neighbors). Great service.

Master’s Auto on 16th in White Center is wonderful. Good honest mechanics. They are right across from the Albertson’s. I wouldn’t take my car to anyone else.

Complete Auto Repair (CAR) is the one at 35th & Holden. We’ve been very happy with them for about 15 years.

I took my Lexus to Tom’s Automotive for brakes and I was shocked that they said I didn’t need them yet. I was so impressed that six months later when I was truly in need I took it back to them. They were reasonable and quick.

We’ve been using Courtesy Tire, at Edmunds and California just south of Alaska Junction, for several years and are really pleased with their service and followup…. Tires, brakes, tune ups, and oil changes!

Masters is fabulous, I have been taking all of my vehiclas there for over 15 yrs.

Ditto on Westside Import Repair, those guys are the best. And don’t be fooled by ‘import’, we’ve taken Fords, Saturns and Dodges.

My dad, on the other hand, went to Doyle’s for forty years and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I went to Courtesy Tire once at Edmunds and California and felt that they recommended things that did NOT need to be done. Their prices seemed high too.

Dere Auto on 35th & Barton. I just had my brakes done there recently. They are honest, straightforward and inexpensive.

Another ditto for Westside Import Repair..I haven’t had brakes done with them yet but have taken my cars to them (initially on a friend’s recommendation) for several years now for all kinds of other things and they’re great! Honest and reliable – yeah for Carl!

Complete Auto Care is the only choice!

I heartily recommend both Tom’s and Courtesy tire. I have always been treated fairly (including being told about work that didn’t need to be done). Both are also certified to do emission test work which can be really important if your car cannot be made to pass the emissions test.

If you have an Audi, take it Hans VW & Audi on 35th. Great guys, good work.

Ok WSB where is my comment from this afternoon?? Please say you are not suddenly editing out ppl’s comments?!

  • CynicalGuy December 21, 2007 (8:33 pm)

I’d recommend Elliot Tire on Fauntleroy–They’re very good at diagnosing and repairing car problems.

Hans VW does great work on Audis.

Sorry, comment time is over.
