His name is Waldo and very well known in the neighborhood. Thank you to the person who brought a note alerting us to him having been taken.  Unfortunately everything is closed so we will have to get him tomorrow. He won’t keep a collar on.

I feel the need to add an additional note. He only lives a couple blocks from the VCA. People really need to think twice before taking a cat off the street. Cats roam. That does not mean they are lost.  Please leave them be unless they are in distress or match a lost poster.

Liis-I do hope you will get Waldo microchipped.

Many people bring cats in to make sure they aren’t someone’s missing pet. By the looks of him he looks very thin, so good for them for bringing him in.

The person who “brought him in” took him basically from in front of his own house. Had they knocked on any door on the street they would have been told where he lives. He is thin because he is old and fighting diabetes. He lost 3 days of specialized care because someone made bad assumptions. Don’t take other people’s pets unless there is a lost poster or they are visibly hurt. And when in question, knock on some doors first. We had to retrieve him, at significant expense, and great stress to him, from Animal Control. He is bouncing back, but still shaken by the experience.

Liis-Microchipped and licensed pets get home at little to no expense.  I will always err on the side of caution when I see an animal outside.  If it has a collar and tag, I can call.  If it has a microchip, the clinic or shelter can call.  If it has neither than more drastic steps are called for.  It sounds like Waldo’s physical state was of concern to both the finder and the clinic.

Waldo is back home where he belongs.

Every time  I see a cat outside, I assume it’s an ‘outside cat’.  I did see this idea one time, to dress cats with orange collars/ handkerchiefs, etc if they are ‘inside cats.’  So, if people see a cat with orange, outside, they know to take it in and look for the owner.  Seems like a good idea and I wish something like this would catch on.  Oh well.  Glad Waldo made it homehttps://explodingkittens.com/kittyconvict/
