keleesoMemberThere were a few of you who started joking about opening a wine (or maybe wine and coffee) bar in that space across the street from La Rustica… as the postings progressed, it looked like people were starting to get serious about looking into it. Did anyone actually do any research or make inquiries? Just curious!

beachdrivegirlParticipantI was one of them. We never met up but I did a little research on my own and just realized that it for me it is financially not feasabel right now because of the amount of time, money etc that would need to go into the place. Would love to see if it was feasable with a group…. are you interested?

AnonymousInactiveI looked into it as well. The rent for that space is pretty high (obviously – it’s a prime location).
There is concern that the neighbors would possibly do whatever they could to prevent such a business to open there (they have had issues in the past).
Time, for me, would not be an issue – I have a lot of that and the possibility of doing it with a group is appealing.
I, too, am curious why you are asking? Interested?

AnonymousInactiveTrick – the rent was based on the square footage. I did the math and it was around $84,000 per year.
I cannot remember, off hand, the square footage. I did a lot of digging to find the info and can find it again if you’d like.
I was told that someone, about a year ago, tried to put a tapas restaurant there, but it was squashed by the neighbors. That is why I think it would be difficult (but not impossible) to put a wine/coffee bar there.

keleesoMemberI thought it was a good idea. I know someone who wants to start a wine bar in West Seattle, and I like that location but I didn’t tell her about it because I didn’t want to mess up something that other people thought of first. Thanks for the replies.
