I’m newish to the neighborhood, but I’ve lived near 35th avenue and Avalon for a while now, and at least twice a week someone with an incredibly loud engine goes rip roaring up the hill like they’re Batman. What is the DEAL with that? Is this a West Seattle “thing?” Just curious.
No, it’s a people thing. Car drivers really got into modifying their cars in the 1930’s and continue to this day. There are starting to be aftermarket companies offering performance upgrades to electric vehicles. Street racers/speeders have been going on since the ’30’s at least. Was invited by a friend to go watch racers on West Marginal my 1st year at Madison. That was 1969.
