We have been taking our dog to the West Seattle Animal Hospital at the Junction on 42ndsince she was a puppy. I was hoping someone could let me know if they had a vet who they were comfortable with and didnt try and sell them a procudure every time they went in. We recently took our dog in for a little pimple or wart above her eye and they said it would be $732.00 to remove it. I wish I could find a vet who would be upfront and say it will go away on its own and $732.00 would be a waste of money.

From someone in the veterinary world I consider Lien Animal Clinic the best in the city and they are here in West Seattle!

I used to work for them and they are a great group of very compassionate and caring people. The vets are excellent, give great care, and don’t push procedures which are not needed (although they will run through all the options available).

Their prices are better than most clinics especially for diagnostics. They really care about their clients and their animals and they make a huge commitment to continuing education for not just the vets but everyone else who works there as well.

Some of the best folks around!

I use South Seattle Vet.206-242-8338 I just called them depending on weight and age of your dog.

the low end would 125.00 plus meds and high end 300.00. I don’t mean to dis on lein I too use to use them but they too are pricey.

Mention the feral lady recommended ssv!

    good luck

We’ve been going to West Seattle Animal Hospital for years, and they’ve been great for us. In fact, our vet has spent a lot of time calling around to find us more affordable medications. The office staff know us well, and they always treat us like we’re their best customers. We’ve never felt like they’ve tried to sell us unnecessary procedures.

I’ve heard good things about Lein, but I’ve always used Greetree, on California just North of the Junction.

Dr. McKim and the staff are great.

Consider Blue Cross Vet clinic on Fourth Ave. near Lander. Not in West Seattle, but still convenient. I’ve recently heard good things about them, including price. We boarded our dogs there for years and were really happy with the set up – BIG kennels and great staff. I liked the vet there also.

If someone quoted me $700 for what you described, I’d definitely get other estimates. Anecdotally, I’ve been hearing lots of reports of expensive vet visits. A friend of mine spent over $2,000 for her cat’s bladder infection. I spent $250 because my cat had diarrhea and needed medication.

VCA vet is the one we’ve used for the past year and it has been good.

Robert (forgot last name) at the Pet Care Center, 2950 SW Avalon Way. We’ve received excellent service from him. Our doggie daycare referred him to us, as she has for many of her customers. Great medical advice, an explanation of all costs, no wait time, and a gentle & friendly personality. My dog is having surgery there in a few weeks. Our dog’s condition (cancer) was misdiagnosed at another vet, but Robert recognized it right away & ordered all of the correct diagnostic tests. Also, they accept walk-ins.

Their computer system is new, so the staff is a obviously still learning how it works. I’m sure they’ll be speedy in no time.

By the way, we’re being charged about $400 for a large tumor removal (surgical procedure w/ anesthesia). With the biopsy it would be about $500. $700 for a wart removal seems excessive.
