dudeMemberLooking for recommendations for pick-up and transport to the airport. Something other the Shuttle Express, which is fine, but always picks up way too early. Thanks!

AnonymousInactivedude – We cab it. A little more pricey, but offers on-call advantage.

shihtzuParticipantWe too take a cab. Only very slightly more expensive and much more comfortable.

addParticipantI go to the airport a lot and usually always take a cab. I noticed that the fares have really gone up – used to be about $33-34 (with tip) from Gatewood Hill. My last two trips were $40.
I sometimes use Seattle City Car Service (seattlecitycar.com), they are a bit pricier, I think it’s $45 before gratuity. However, they are extremely reliable. I find the cab service is very spotty in afternoon/early evening, even when you arrange a “time call” (reservation).

datamuseParticipantI’ve taken the bus and that’s worked out well for me, though it might not be feasible if you have a lot of luggage.

IrukandjiParticipantThere is a bus that runs from the Sheraton downtown directly to the airport. I haven’t used it for years (toddler in tow), but family members have used it both ways when traveling at awkward times.

TammiWSMemberI’ve done both. Cab is faster overall but more $$.
Bus works great to the airport if you’re leaving on a weekday. It never works coming back to WS for me though due to timing of the flight arrivals I’m on. It’s inexpensive and makes few stops. 35 minutes or so to get there….

cjboffoliParticipantI think Seattle cabs are janky in the extreme. I’ve had very reliable service from Cascade Car Service (206.622.1161). We also used Shuttle Express for a recent trip and it was a good value (though somehow always more comfortable when leaving for a trip as opposed to coming home)

AnonymousInactiveSo sad you all don’t have friends or family members.
I take my neighbors and friends to the airport ANY DAY ANYTIME!!even at the wee hours of the morning (1am or 5am)
I make time for them and they make time for me.
November 7, 2008 at 12:36 am #646648
AnonymousInactivegrowingjade – In that case, can you be my friend?

miwsParticipantThe bus route that TammiWS referred to, is Sound Transit Rte 560.
It costs $2.50 to the airport.

CarolPBMemberWe just recently did a park-n-fly lot called Extra Car. Was $44.00 ($7.95/day + tax)from Thursday afternoon through Sunday night, which was less than a cab back and forth. A friend uses it often, and told me the earlier you book, the cheaper they charge. You can check rates/schedule at extracar.com.

sldMemberMy husband used Triple Crown Transport before I learned the route to and from the airport. Now I drive him and pick him up. I don’t know what he thought, but since he has their card, he must have been happy with them. The card we have is for Chris Bensberg – 714-401-0226.

GAnativeParticipantWe use A Plus Town Car and they’ve been great 206.331.1941.

Arbor Heights GuyMemberSound Transit Rt. #560. Alaska Junction to the Airport, 1 bus no transfers about 40 min. $2.50. Limited stop express service to Sea Tac. Support West Seattles great Metro/ Sound Transit service. You can usually schlep some luggage on too.
November 8, 2008 at 11:30 pm #646656
ZenguyParticipantSeriously the town cars are the same price as a cab and way nicer, but a friend or family are the best. I call when I land and they arrive, love living by the airport.
November 17, 2008 at 6:48 pm #646657
JimmyGMemberFor the 1st time last week I took the Sound Transit 560 bus to and from SeaTac. Couldn’t have been easier (no transfers, express route) and you can’t beat the $2.50 fare each way.
I don’t know that I’ll ever go back to the $30 taxi ride.

vbseattle1MemberCrown Black Car Service is a new-ish cab company in town that has rates comparable or better than many cab companies (they charge with flat rates) and have all Lincoln Town Cars. They are about to add more cars to their fleet – check with them about their prices to the airport currently..here’s their website link:
