    Executive Deputy Director Responsibilities and Duties
    Coordinate with executive director and implement all administrative strategies within required timeframe. Develop all communication to WSJA ratepayers, Board of Directors and community members.

    Identify local, city, state and national grant funding opportunities. Write, submit, and manage grant proposals while furnishing prospective funders with supporting documents.
    Conduct short- and long-term planning and management for WSJA events. Develop and manage the budget, marketing plan, and objectives. Develop relationships with vendors and contractors. Fundraise via sponsorship deployment upon strategic goal-setting.
    Monitor financial statements on monthly basis and analyze all trends and develop all program grants and financial contracts. Work within the framework of the WSJA organizational budget.

    Collaborate with staff and evaluate all volunteer programs and activity performance and maintain competency in all organization policies and participate in various community outreach activities.

    Prepare all program goals and objectives and evaluate progress and effectiveness. Provide support to all WSJA ratepayers to achieve all project deliverables within required timeframe and prepare all work plans and grant deliverables as per requirement.
    Assist to develop various alliances to achieve all conversation objectives and coordinate with various community groups, schedule meetings and ensure communication aligns with the mission of WSJA.

    Administer everyday functions for organization and coordinate with executive director to prepare all long term strategies to achieve all goals and evaluate performance of various fundraising programs.

    About the West Seattle Junction Association
    The West Seattle Junction Association is a thriving Business Improvement Area. It is an organization made up of local merchants and other businesses with a Director, a Board of Directors and committees to organize marketing, beautification, events and community service projects.
    Position Summary

    The Deputy Director is a leadership position, leading and supporting the ratepayers (merchants) of the West Seattle Junction Association. Working with the Executive Director, the primary duties focus on fund development through grant writing, sponsorship and community partnership development, volunteer management and management of WSJA events and programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Fund Development (20%)
    • Review current and active grants managing deliverables, timelines and opportunities.
    • Seek opportunities at the local, city, state and federal level for grants that align with the mission of WSJA.
    • Be fully engaged with past and current WSJA partners while developing new sponsorships programs for projected events.
    • Search and develop further sources of funding that support small businesses.
    2. Event Planning and Volunteer Stewardship (50%)
    • Manage and develop all community-facing events within the district boundary of WSJA.
    • Develop and further programming that aligns with the values of WSJA including: Summer Fest, Harvest Fest, Hometown Holidays, Wine Walk, Art Walk, Pride Weekend and Flag Program.
    • Provide leadership to contractors and vendors.
    • Harness the power of the volunteers by developing programming and meaningful rewards.
    • Establish, monitor, and report financial goals and outcomes of WSJA event programming to WSJA Board of Directors.

    3. Operations and Finance (30%)
    • Oversee priorities of the organization to include development of ratepayer education and outreach.
    • Engage the Board of Directors by presenting engaging and worthwhile topics to include key decision-making priorities.
    • Negotiate lease terms with vendor Diamond Parking.
    • Develop long-term development vision that aligns with the Urban Village framework.
    • Track and renew all insurance policies while determining risk management levels.
    • Manage and develop electronic and social media marketing to include full suite of WSJA platforms, website, and blog.
    • Develop and present operational budget to WSJA Board of Directors and within City of Seattle BIA/FAS Agency Management Agreement.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Five years of progressive managerial responsibility
    • NPO background
    • Four year degree in nonprofit management, marketing or equivalent work experience
    • Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities
    • Proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humor
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people
    • Operates with excellence in mind in all matters
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are essential
    • Background in urban design a plus
    • Passionate about the WSJA mission and impact
    • Self-starter, self-disciplined
    • Spark, imagination, creativity
    • Remain focused in the face of pressure, delivers against timelines, not intimidated by tasks/time limitations
    • Successful ability to research and write grant proposals
    • Proven record developing large-scale events
    • Strong social media skills, including website content development
    • Previous small business relationship and/or ownership a plus

    Employment Details

    The West Seattle Junction Association office is located in the heart of the Junction, hybrid in-office and remote work available.
    Part-time 24-30 hours per week to start.
    FLSA Classification: part-time, exempt
    Starting salary range: $36,000-$42,000
