wsn00bParticipantThe weeds on West Seattle Bridge, as you approach Fauntleroy/35th, have been gradually getting worse. They even scrape the side of your car as enter the left turn lanes to 35th from the bridge. The hillside around the logs/bridge is pretty embarrassing too.
This seems to be a pattern:

If I select West Seattle Bridge on http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/potholereport.htm (by selecting the intersection of the bridge, Fauntleroy and 35th on the map) I am told, by the form, that the area is not serviced by SDOT for weed cleanup.
Is SDOT responsible for cleaning up the medians and sides of the bridge?

WSBKeymasterWe have published many reports on the volunteer cleanups in that area, in advance, in progress, and afterward. Would be awesome to see more concerned people show up and help.

Even mentioned longtime West Seattle advocate Earl Cruzen’s singlehanded efforts to try to keep it under control, in this story from Saturday:
Nothing scheduled in the near future that I know of, but as always, when something is, you will get first word here.

wsn00bParticipantThanks WSB. I am aware of the area cleanup around the logs. I will attempt to help out with that someday.
However, I was also talking about the weeds that are in high traffic lane medians that would require lane closures to cleanup. Does SDOT own clearing that up?

WSBKeymasterEasy way to find out is to report it, if you haven’t already. If there is a safety hazard in a right of way, they won’t know unless you report it. 206-684-ROAD – I’m sure there’s an online version too but the phone version seems to get faster action. (Not sure if they are answering today.) – TR

Genesee HillParticipantI heard cub scouts and rainbow girls are responsible for cleaning up those weeds on freeway medians. ROFL.

JanSParticipantSDOT finally did come out and cut down the waist high weeds on the left side of the exit from the bridge joining with Admiral Way..it was so bad that you couldn’t see if anyone was coming in the lane from under the bridge….visibility is much better now….
hey…don’t knock rainbow girls ;-)
