I’m the mother of a 4 year old boy. Currently, I teach Japanese at a Waldorf School on Bainbridge Island twice a week.

I’ve been trying to find homschooling families in West Seattle, whose children are 4-6 years of age, and who are interested in Waldorf philosophy. My hope is to find at least 2 or 3 children and organize a group homeschool. We can possibly buy Waldorf homeschool curriculum, and to try this out, we can start meeting once a week (9:30am – 1pm) at my place or one of the families house if someone can offer a space. It could be possible, once this gets going, that we meet 2-3 times a week if that’s what we wanted (in that case, I would need other parents’ help).

My home is not totally Waldorf or anything, but the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner truly resonates in my heart, and would love to connect with West Seattle homeschool families who have similar views on how they want to raise their children.

I’m not a trained Waldorf teacher, but do have some knowledge and experience with the style of education. I’m also a native Japanese speaker, as well as a musician, and I would love to contribute my skill if this works out.

Please contact me at aiko@aikoshimada.com if you are interested, or know anyone who may be interested. Thank you.

aiko…I don’t have small children, mine is grown now. But I did follow the link with your name to your website, and found some of your music. it’s wonderful. I downloaded “Like Hannah”….how nice to have you in our community. Hope you find some like-minded parents :)

Thank you, Jan. It’s been hard to find enough interest in what I’m trying to do, here in West Seattle. But I’m going to keep trying. Also, thank you for checking out my music!
