Juliana_CollegeAccessNowMemberCollege Access Now (CAN)empowers students from low-income families to access, enroll and graduate from college at rates equal to their more advantaged peers. We need volunteers in our high school program, working with juniors and seniors to help make this mission a reality!
High School Volunteers works within Seattle Public high schools on a vibrant team made up of CAN staff and CAN AmeriCorps Members, dedicated to assisting students during their junior and senior year on finalizing college essays, deciding where to apply, submitting applications, financial aid/FAFSA, scholarship research, college matching and general support through the college application and transition process.
We ask that volunteers commit to 1 full academic year, 1 day/week for 1.5-2 hours, after school (around 3:00 to 4:30 PM) starting September 2014 to June 2015.
Training is provided! A Bachelors Degree is required, and experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
We have openings to volunteer at Chief Sealth International High School, Franklin High School, and Nathan Hale High School.
Use your gifts to create meaningful change in the lives of Seattleās high school students! Become a part of a talented, diverse and caring community, and see students grow as the year progresses as a result of your effort and time.
