Is anyone else wildly frustrated with the light times at this intersection? Turning west onto Alaska your lucky to get two cars before the green arrow turns yellow, what’s that about? It’s often congested and waiting to turn causes backups in the northbound lanes :::arms up I don’t know emoji:::

Yeah, somewhere in the Washington driver’s manual it says a green arrow means you should wait as long as possible and then go just as it turns yellow.

There’s often an issue with people not paying attention at this light (moreso than other lights it seems), and I’m happy to honk at them if that’s the case. I’ve always wondered about the timing at this light though, when it turns green and for how long. I can’t seem to find a pattern, except it seems to turn less frequently during the evening rush hour (presumably to allow for more traffic to go SB on 35th).
I wonder if there was a plan to address the light and the turn lane capacity in the initial 35th Ave rechannelization and it’s just fallen off the list by SDOT. If we’re making requests for that intersection in general, I’d like to add banning right turns on red from eastbound Alaska to southbound 35th, and a resurfacing of the entire intersection.
