Hello -anyone out there have experience managing an apple tree? I have a big apple tree in my backyard and want the branches lopped off as the tree is in its twilight. Free firewood ;)

So, you’re trying to kill off the tree in the least effective and ugliest way possible? If not, and you’d actually like to keep the tree alive, healthy, and attractive, you need to call a licensed arborist. I’d recommend Michael Oxman for this work. If you’re just going to “lop off” branches, just cut the thing down already.

I have a huge, massive cheery tree and hire Grun Tree Care to manage it. Unfortunately it was not managed well for years so it got a bit out of control, but they helped me manage taking off quite a bit of height to protect our home and keep it out of power wires, while keeping the tree healthy, happy and producing.
