guidosmomMemberOk.. so I am embarrassed to tell this story but it is kind of funny. I have never had to change a tire. It’s just always worked out that way, and I am not very handy. Today, I headed to my company’s quarterly employee meeting. I carpooled with some co-workers. For some reason on the way back we started talking about flat tires. One of my co-workers mentioned she needed to teach me how to change I tire. I jokingly said why would I need to learn if she was there to fix it if it happened at work, and if not I could have my partner change it. Famous last words… After a crazy day I walk out to my car to discover a flat tire!! Go figure… I called my co-worker who wanted to teach me to change a tire and let her know it’s her lucky day. :) She came down to show me, but couldn’t get the lug nuts off, so we had to call my boss. We got it taken care of, and for some strange reason my spare tire was not really a spare, but a normal tire. Needless to say, I need to either get my new tire repaired, or get a new spare tire. Any recommendations as to where to go? I have always taken my car to Harrah’s, but am not sure if they do tires as well.

mellaw6565MemberI’ve gone down to a place right on Ambaum and 146th in Burien (near Walgreens). I can’t remember the name – maybe Marty’s Tire Repair?? In any event, you can’t miss it but they do a good job of repairing flats. Looks rundown from the outside, but you’re in and out in minutes usually.
If you’re looking for a new tire and are a Costco member, I’ve always had good deals there. Sears Auto Center down on 1st Ave S. near Starbucks HQ use to have some good deals as well.
Funny, I also had a flat for the first time on my Jeep this week – and a new tire at that. My spare was also full size, thankfully. Maybe flats come with the weather??

AnonymousInactiveIf the hole is in the tread it’s an easy quick fix at any tire shop. If it’s in the side wall it’s not repairable, you have to buy a new one. If you don’t see the nail/hole, no worries, they soak your tire in water to see where air bubbles escape. Sears Tires on 1st is great. Usually have a sale on something if you have to get a new one. Drop it off before work and pick it up after.

RonMParticipantI’ve received good service and tires from Courtesy Tire in the Junction.

MargLMemberWe always go to Les Schwab. Pretty easy to find one in almost any town. Flat repairs are free (if you got your tires there).

nfolsomParticipantGuidosMom: I’m loyal to Discount Tire. Here’s a link to their locations: http://dt.know-where.com/DiscountTire/cgi/selection?place=98106&go=Search.
I’ve gone to them for, oh, about 20 years now. The last time I needed to have a flat fixed it was an original tire, so hadn’t even come from them but they fixed it for free.

JayDeeParticipantI’d second the nomination for Discount–They have replaced a set of tires on my car, and replaced a “road damaged” tire without giving me grief for a $200 tire. I’ve had good service from Discount-Burien and their website offers reviews of tires and prices are very competitive, even to Costco and Tire Rack.

DunnoParticipantFantastic deal on 4 almost new tires for my van at Ambaum Tire at about 150thsw and Ambaum, across the street from Marty’s. $125 for 4 tires mounted and balanced. These are van tires! Discout wanted $125 per new. Also Marty’s across the street reasonable. Also, the best deal for auto repair by far is Ty’s on Delridge way White Center, but getting to busy.

AdmiralJanewayParticipantI also recommend Costco. Good prices for Michelin tires, and they don’t charge for valve stems like other tire stores.
