Unfortunately, I was driving my son home going under the viaduct toward SODO and one of our cities transients that owns a dog kicked it. Poor thing yelped. I yelled at the guy but was hemmed in traffic. Yes, I should have gone back but with wife and kid I chose not to.

Later after having an outstanding dinner with 5 year old son at New Teriyaki by Dominos, I was driving home. Turned the corner on Juneau. proceeded up the street. A car in front of me was driving Lost so I slowed down. The car behind me laid on the horn for quite a long time. The car in front was making up its mind. I stopped because I didn’t want to pass in case lost driver took an erratic turn. Meanwhile, the guy behind me did not like the fact I had stopped. It was only a brief moment. I gestured “what” with my arms then went forward slowly. As I turned at a traffic circle, idiot behind me flipped a bird, which I was expecting. I yelled I LOVE YOU, but I don’t think he heard me quite correctly. He yelled the tired and overused eff yu in front of a teen girl walking a couple of others.

As they said in Hill Street Blues. Be Careful Out There.

If you had gone back to the (insert bad word) that kicked his dog, what would/could you have done? I’ve witnessed this myself and when I say something they look at me like I’m the one that’s crazy. So then what? Do you risk your safety by pushing the matter with someone who is obviously unstable? How far do you take this?

People here aren’t used to the heat and don’t have enough time to acclimate to the instant change/s. Also, since 90% of Seattle is on some type of drug, legal or illegal, the brain can’t handle their tempers normally.

Hi Rich. I agree but I see this often when there is no heat in Seattle/West Seattle. Too many peeps or rats in a cage is my opinion. I used to love Seattle/West Seattle, now .. not so much.

    .

Oh and I don’t think dogs/cats should be abused but I wish people cared as much for humans.

Its worse in the rain. At least in the sun people are nice and warm. Pikes market is packed looking out my office window, lots of people here, cruise ships docked, vendors setup, people laying in the park.

People behind the wheel act like using a brake pedal is akin to pulling fingernails out regardless of the weather.

    Its logical…PNW “Heatwave” of 90’s + for multiple days…

    Low % of A/C installed…

Multi level homes – lots of bedrooms upstairs – hottest place in home…

Even with windows and fans – homes rarely get below 80 at night…

Can’t sleep well…till about 3:30 when its finally tolerable…or your body just gives up…

    BEEP BEEP BEEP…6:00am alarm…

Nary a wink and your body is screaming mercy!

Most can deal for a day or two like this…but…the mind wants what it wants and the easy path is lack of tolerance…anger…emotion…

I agree with the above…Love the sun over the sustained rain! I keep calm knowing there are much more worse off than us in our little bubble of the nation…

Best place to live on earth right now! Hard to argue this…;0

Too true. I’m a Seattle native who LOVES sun and heat (so WHY do I live here??) but by yesterday afternoon I was one crankidelic piece of toast.

And today is supposed to be even hotter? Someone better tell the BF to just come home this evening with an iced mocha in hand, outstretched toward me.

When someone gets irrate or flips me off, I ust flash them a peace sign. Catches them off guard and I get some satisfaction. No harm done.

Caring for humans vs. non-human animals is not an either/or choice. It is possible to do both. The difference is that most humans have some choice; animals for the most part do not. I commend Rich for trying to do something – anything – to keep this dog from being abused.

In addition to hot tempers, I’ve also observed that drivers are really heavy on the gas pedal when temperatures rise. In the last few days nearly every vehicle that passes the speed sign on 35th sends it spinning into the red “SLOW DOWN” zone.

I have a friend who lives in Midland, TX. It is usually sunny and somewhere between 95 degrees and 105 degrees most days…day after day after day. Imagine the crankiness there !

hahahaha…still hot in my book !

The humdity here right now is 31%. Right now in midland the temp is only 84 w/ thunderstorms in the area…and 44 % humidity…

    I’d like a good thunderstorm about 11pm tonight…

Lets just be glad we’re not in or near Clellum.Feel so sorry for all those people and animals. They’re predicting possible thunder storms. I’d love a good summer rain about now.

happywalker, I blow kisses at them. Makes them really angry (generally) and then makes me laugh.

Sue–I blow kisses too! Man, that pisses them off! Funny that blowing a kiss can be even more maddening than the finger. :-)

And Betty–you’re absolutely right, I make a DAMN FINE iced mocha–no BF needed. :-)

Here here, Anonyme! The assertion that one must either be an animal person or a people person (or cat vs dog, child vs pet, teacher vs construction worker)is an over simplification, creates antagonism where there is none, and serves no purpose other than to distract from the issue at hand.

As for the issue at hand, while I agree heat can make people’s blood boil quicker, the incidents you describe are not so out of the norm. I commend you for wanting to help that dog and I hope someone by now has! It’s incidents like that which make MY blood boil and had I been there that man would have known it!
