wakefloodParticipantAnd now with yet ANOTHER 5 to 4 decision (how many does that make now? ALMOST ALL OF THE IMPORTANT ONES IN THE LAST 20 yrs?) the Supremes have once again doubled down on Oligarchy/Corporofascism with the McCutcheon vs. FEC case.
Let’s see now…they installed a President by fiat, made Corporations people, made elections about money, OK’d gerrymandering, made class-action suits extinct, etc. etc.
Victories for every American, yes? Power to the People, am I right?
Frankly, the logic pretzels that the SCOTUS majority have to twist themselves into to fit their ideology is dumbfounding. And Scalia is supposed to be the “principled” one. He’s a joke. His arguments are so specious, one wonders if he even gets how ridiculous they are.
Oh, and before you say “John Roberts & ACA!!!”, let me remind you that the whole plan was devised by Conservatives with the assumption that it would be enforceable via the Commerce Clause. The only reason Roberts let it stick was because he finally decided he couldn’t perform that last double-backward somersault and twist into the shallow end of the pool just to kill the plan.
Want to make a difference in our system? Watch where the rubber meets the road. It’s the SCOTUS that makes laws work (or not) and the GOP has known it for years and has worked hard to keep that majority. Fix that, and you fix ALOT of what’s wrong with our “democracy”.

JeannieParticipantHere’s what the ruling was about. You can thank the supreme overlords for this: If you’re rich and want to give money to a lot of political campaigns, the Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that you can.
The 5-4 ruling eliminated limits on much money people can donate in total in one election season.

JoBParticipanti am saddened by this travesty of justice
Our supreme court is currently ruling on the basis of opinions.. not established law.

waynsterParticipantOnce again the rich will buy the election until the middle class on down kick those out that have their way bought in… its time to vote smart not by the buck for the bang……
