WSLVRMemberLooking for a summer camp (2011) for my 6 yr old. Can anyone recommend one? Is Alki Community Center still running?

WSFamilyZoneMemberYes, it appears the Alki Community Center will continue to have summer camps.

Alki’s Kids Place is a popular camp. Parents like the flexibility of 1/2 day or full day and kids have a great time. Alki Kid’s Place, 6115 SW Hinds Street; 938-0145 or alkikidsplace@aol.com
YMCA, The Little Gym of West Seattle, Camp Long, and West Side Gymnastics Academy also have very popular summer camps. Arts West has a fantastic musical academy, but starts at 8 years old.
Stage Struck summer camp registration is usually in March and fills quickly. http://www.stagestruckseattle.com/
We listed the holiday break camps on our website and will update the site with summer camp information as soon as information is available.

ClawGirlMemberMy kids are 6 & 8 (girl & boy), and both say their favorite summer camp hands down is the camp(s) at Lee’s Martial Arts (3270 California Ave SW). Lee’s usually has 2 or 3 week-long camps every summer. The kids get some exposure to Tae Kwon Do, but there are many other fun activities such as dodge ball, bowling, ice cream socials, general gym time, etc.. My kids love, love, love this camp! And I love the fact they’re thoroughly exhausted when they get home. Lisa and Joe are the owners, and they’re absolutely fabulous! Their website is: http://www.lmawestseattle.com/
Hiawatha Community Center also has week-long camps throughout the summer. You have to attend a lottery in early April to get a spot. These camps are good, and fairly reasonably priced considering how long the days are, and compared to the price of other camps.
My 8-y-o son also loves the camps at The Museum of Flight, especially Blue Angels Camp.

ClawGirlMemberIf you have a child who loves basketball, I HIGHLY recommend Watts Basketball Camp run by Donald and Slick Watts. It’s for girls and boys, K-8. The kids have a great time, and learn a lot of valuable b-ball skills. I heard they’re planning to have at least one camp at the end of August in West Seattle, possibly more…Locations are still being finalized. Scroll to the bottom of this link to find 2011 dates: http://www.wattsbasketball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=103&Itemid=136
