cindi1953@gmail.comMemberHow many high price outfits do you sell to pay your rent. West Seattle needs athletic wear. Nice yoga wear. Sweat outfits like LU LU Lemon. Someone should turn their store over to this kind of business. We have 5 new fitness clubs and no place to buy clothing. If I had the money I`d do it. I could help manage one.

flowerpetalMemberI don’t get the need for athletic wear or yoga wear. The only purchases I have needed to make are new shoes for the gym, shower shoes, and a yoga mat. I hope West Seattle residents won’t spend money on the “right” gym or yoga outfit just to look good.
And perhaps I’m missing something? Yoga has been around hundreds of years before anyone started thinking about nice yoga wear.

JanSParticipantyes, but…was there a need for 2 threads on this subject from the same person?

aunteesocialParticipantI went to a Lululemon warehouse sale, not having a clue what it was going to be- other than yoga wear. It was insane how much this stuff cost. $98 for yoga pants? The staff seemed waaay too enthusiastic to me. Kind of like the JambaJuice vibe and then some.
Just now I was thinking that it seemed very “cult-ish”, and lo and behold one Google search later on Lululemon—3rd result: http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/134/om-my.html Landmark Forum and The Secret principles built into their “internal constitution”. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that” (Seinfeld joke), but it’s certainly not for me.
I prefer Marshalls. Deep discounts on quality athletic gear and no fuss. But hey, I’m just in it for the exercise and well being. ;)

CMPParticipantI just go to Target, Old Navy or REI for workout clothes. I’m going to make it all stinky anyway so why spend a lot of money on something that I’ll end up trashing? I make fun of women that rock LuLuLemon anyway…they probably spend $200 on a pair of jeans too. Thankfully I don’t care too much about how I look at my gym at 6:00 am or when I’m running before the sun rises.

swimcatMemberI never spend more than $20 on any piece of athletic clothing except for my running shoes, swim suits and jogging bras. I’m outside to work out, I really don’t care how I look while doing it as long as I’m comfortable. I’ve never been in a lulu lemon, but after seeing aunteesocial’s post, I doubt I’ll ever go now!
Sometimes I think, it sure would be nice to wear something cute that actually matches, but then I don’t want to spend the money on it. I’ll keep buying stuff at the Rack, Target and Old Navy.

JoBParticipantshe is right though.. it is an unmet market..
just like a clothing store that stocks women’s size 14-18 regular.. not quite a plus cut but still not thin:(
and i would bet there are other under-served markets that i haven’t noticed.

JanSParticipantJoB..you’re just sooo behind the times ;-) There’s a model who is a size 14, and they’re calling her a PLUS SIZE model – lol, when actually size 14 is the average sized woman in the US.

SueParticipantJan, some of the “plus size” stores start their sizes at 12 these days. <shaking head>
